A new block buster, new sports gear, new book, video game or a new car: all these things are fun to write about and really fun to read about and make marketing plans to promote. It is not that hard to make a commercial for a new car that you are so enthusiastic about. Everybody already wants to have a car like that and all you need to do is to emphasize the “coolness” factor that it has. However, there are some much less interesting products and lines of businesses that also need content and marketing strategies. Take insurance companies or kitchen sink manufacture. There is nothing particularly exciting about it and it is hard to think of a content that will go viral online. However, there are ways to make it interesting, readable, or even “shareable”.
Use Visual Aids
Just like in school: when a topic is boring, use a lot of visual aids. If you need a how to manual, make it a comic book, if there are some graphs and info available, then do an infographics as a blog post and make it really fun. You can compare the info from the graphs with totally unrelated but fun facts. For example, if you work in an insurance company, make a blog post about the most bizarre accidents that were covered by the insurance.
Make a Voice of the Company
Create content that shows attitude, follows the mission of the company and adds the personal touch to the whole message that you want to send out to the customers and clients. Sharing simple info about this and that is not that fun. It is boring and dry content that nobody really cares about. Therefore, give it some personal opinion but try to stay subjective. Loosen up the style and make it more readable in that way.
Answer the Questions
Reach out to the customers who have a lot to ask you. They have all sorts of questions. Pick the ones that get constantly repeated or those that seem the most interesting and turn the answers into readable blog posts. Don’t make the language to technical or too formal because the useful and precise info that you share there will be the content that people want to read. Explain all things in your own words, so that they are applicable and understandable by general public.
Easy Guides for Small Businesses
People who are the most enthusiastic about the things and instructions that they can find online, and that are concerned with insurance or other businesses are owners of small businesses. Therefore, do occasional blog posts that relate to this target group as they will easily and gladly share it and make it popular among their community.
Some of these things may look too informal or too daring, but think about the alternatives. Having one more, identical and boring site with the same old content that nobody wants to read is not really a success story. Also, not seeming or sounding serious about your business is not the way either. It can be said that the best way to go is to have a little bit of both and tailor it so that it shows your business in the best possible light.
